Do you love the look of a modern farmhouse bathroom? Our lovely clients came to us this year, looking to update their master bathroom using this style. They had a wish list that included:

  • Modern farmhouse style
  • Larger shower
  • Linen closet
  • Better lighting

We thought it would be fun to share with you, the process of how we transformed their dated bathroom, into a unique modern farmhouse retreat.

STEP 1.

We met with the clients, and together, we bounced around ideas, talked about important functionalities, and came up with a budget. Space was at a premium, so we needed to plan things out precisely. To get a larger shower, they were fine with removing the rarely used jacuzzi tub. We wanted to make the shower the ‘show stopper’ in the room!

STEP 2.

With notes in hand, we went back to our office, and began the design process. We created a new FLOOR PLAN, and then chose the MATERIALS for the room. Our goal was to get the simplicity of the farmhouse look mixed together with clean lines to create a modern spa feel. The farmhouse touches we brought in include natural stained cabinetry, seeded glass, black textured steel mirrors, black slate looking tiles, and elongated subway tiles with a stone texture.

My favorite touch is the penny rounds used in the shower that are jewel glass and frosted foil!

STEP 3.

Once we had the materials selected, a lighting plan, and every plumbing fixture picked out, we created the wall elevations for the re-designed bathroom. We like to create a complete picture for our homeowners, so we used drawings and showed samples of the building materials, and furnishings. Then, we packed up all of the samples and our finished design visuals, and headed to our clients’ home to present it all to them! Presentation meetings are the best!

STEP 4.

Our clients approved the design! We created a construction schedule and ordered all of the building materials! It was important to have all of those materials on hand as soon as our team started working, so there were no delays with completing the project. We know how stressful any construction project can be.

Here are BEFORE and AFTER photos so you can see the transformation.
