Creekview Project blue bookcase
This blog post is dedicated to the beautiful color blue!

Blue can be both bold and tranquil. It is a wonderful color choice to create drama, and still feel welcoming. There is a strong correlation between color and the human mood, so it makes sense to see more of this versatile color that is cheerful and warm in spaces we work, play and live in. It is consistently unforgettable! This is why the fashion, art, and interior design industries have used it time and time again.

I am inspired by all of the new colorful spaces I see on social media.  For a while, the trend was gray and white. I feel like I saw the same rooms; same color combinations; everywhere. It is so refreshing to now see more bold choices in color and pattern.

We recently re-designed a large two-story family room, and a laundry room, using blue as our color inspiration.  And we were not shy about the boldness!

Did you ever think of using a bold blue for a formal two-story room?

This homeowner is not afraid to express herself through color. When we presented the design plan for her room, she was just as excited as we were! The bold choice of blue for not one, but two stories, created an amazing impact.

Benjamin Moore 2062-30 Blue Danube

We used Benjamin Moore’s Blue Danube (2062-30) on the walls. Who would have thought that such a grand room could feel more intimate and joyful by using this color! Deep color tends to make rooms feel cozier.

*Tip: use a crisp white paint for trim work like Benjamin Moore’s Decorators White (CC-20).

Creekview project blue bookcases

The original built-in bookcases received a fresh coat of blue paint ONLY to the back of the shelves and around the French doors. This draws your eye to the shelves, allowing the objects used for styling to become the focal point.

Our homeowner likes to display family photos. We re-designed the display to go vertically up the wall using floating wall shelves. This keeps her frames organized and allows her to edit them whenever she chooses. We added in a few new oversized art pieces to carry the blue and pink into the mix of photos. The new display looks cohesive, interesting, and is overall stunning against the bold blue wall.

We remodeled the outdated television built-in. The new media niche is wrapped in wallpaper giving a more modern vibe, and the new built-in cabinets add warm, inviting wood tones. Most importantly, the client was able to fit a larger television! Are you feeling sparks of joy like we are?

Why do so many of us fear color? A lot of homeowners tell us from the start, that they don’t like too much color. When we show them some inspiration photos of rooms with bold color choices, they love it! When asked to describe how the spaces make them feel, they reply with adjectives like “happy” and “relaxed”.

Why not turn a utilitarian room into a moody chic space?

Eagle project blue laundry room

How can you make laundry fun? Change the setting! This busy family of five asked us to re-design their laundry room so that it kept up with their lifestyle, and the three dogs they love dearly. The laundry room is where they mostly enter and exit the house from, so we replaced the traditional unorganized closet with an easy to access bench area with hooks, and storage cabinets.

LAUNDRY HALE NAVY HC 154

We used custom cabinetry painted Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy (HC 154). We painted the door to the powder room the same color.
